Tips for Making Your Mortgage Processing Go Smoothly:

  • Bank and Asset Statements: Provide all pages of your most recent statements.
  • Employment: Be aware that your employment will be verbally verified.
  • Tax Returns: If you are required to provide your last two years' tax returns, please make sure they are signed.
  • Tax Return Extensions: If you have filed an extension, please provide a copy of the request.
  • Pay Stubs: Make sure your pay stubs are your two most recent and consecutive stubs and they are complete with your name, your employer's name, and your year-to-date earnings.
  • Homeowners' Insurance Premium: When purchasing or refinancing a home, be aware that some lenders require that your homeowner’s insurance premium for the current year be paid in full before closing.
  • Partnerships and Corporations: If you are involved in a partnership or corporation, please provide K-1s for the last two years. If you own more than 25 percent of the entity, you must provide the entity's full, signed tax returns.
  • While Your Mortgage Is Being Processed: Be careful to make all your loan and credit card payments on time, don’t incur any new debt, and avoid having anyone pull your credit report.
  • Additional Underwriting Requests: Be aware that, as underwriters review your paperwork, we may need to request additional documentation from you.
  • Humor: While processing a mortgage loan can take time and a little bit of legwork from you, it's all for a good outcome, so maintaining your patience and sense of humor will serve you well!
